At the last minute(yesterday), Mrs. Nemasket had to go to Ireland leaving me with the kids.
I hear the turnout was pretty good. If you take away the special interests(retirees, teachers), did we have better-than-average numbers?
I see 43D passed. I'll pleasantly surprised if Mboro doesn't screw this up.
Something doesn't smell right with that land swap at the firestation.
Funny that Pat had to read the reefer article. |

| Speaking of being home with the kids...Does anyone know why the town meeting was not broadcast live on local cable and who made that decision? |

Without knowing for sure, I would say that comcast lacks the equipment to do live remote broadcasts.
I don't think I've seen anything live except for BOS meetings which take place right outside a closet full of comcast gear. |

| Comcast can broadcast live from the high school but it was decided when the technology became available not to broadcast town meetings live on the same theory that results in "blackouts" of sporting events: people will stay home rather than pay for a ticket - or in this case, contribute to making a quorum. |

| Thank you for your replies. I may be suffering from sleep deprivation, but I could swear that they have broadcast live Town Meeting before...in any case, I think that the town should broadcast the town meeting live so that those of us who would like to keep abreast of town happenings, but cannot attend because we have small children, can do so. When we first moved here 15 years ago, both my husband and I attended every town meeting from start to finish, sometimes for 2-3 days straight. Fast forward to now and we have 2 small children. Bringing the kids to the town meeting is frowned upon, besides being distracting for the parents, boring for the kids and annoying for the other participants. So someone has to stay home with the kids. Our teen babysitter can only sit until about 9:00 on a school night -- for adults it is a work night -- so we take turns attending. This year hubby attended in person and we were hoping technology would enable me to participate to an extent, even though I would be unable to actually vote on anything: watch it live and email commentary to hubby, if necessary. After 45 minutes of watching the scrolling advertisements on channel 9, I was getting very frustrated! |

It is very frustrating being the one at home with the kids. I was waiting up until very late just to get the update.

I was told that the planning board made their case very well. I still agree with Nemasket that if this is so great why don't we know more about it. Once again the wealth of info coming from the town just overwhelms me. _________________ "Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts." --Rachel Carson |

| On 43D- Bea I mean no disrespect to the planning board but there was little discussion. It was close to 11pm and there was 108(Moderator's count) people in the hall. It was sad to see so few making decisions for so many! |
